Hidden Gem Destinations: Redington Beach

FacebookTweetPinPrintLinkedIn

The sunshine state of Florida is known for its beautiful beaches, tropical and warm weather, mouth-watering seafood, unique culture, and exceptionally diverse population. No wonder it’s one of the top choices for people to go on trips and vacations. As you might expect, there are currently tons and tons of choices for great beaches all across the state. The top three are Siesta Key, Marco Island, and Palm Beach.

One of the unique destinations in Florida, which may or may not be on your list, is Redington Beach. In this article, we are going to tell you why it’s one of the most underrated beaches in the state, making it a hidden gem destination. Afterward, if we have successfully convinced you to visit the place, check out our recommendations for Redington Beach vacation rentals so that you can start booking your reservations as soon as possible.

Redington Beach 101

Redington beach is a relatively small town located at the western border of Florida. It is situated on an island that geographically barriers the Gulf of Mexico. It spans an area of just over 1.31 square miles, and it is home to a little over 1,300 people. Redington Beach belongs to a group of towns on the West coast of Florida, with neighboring cities and towns such as Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, and Indian Shores, among others. This area has resorts, gift shops, hotels, restaurants, and other tourist attractions.

The Beach

In these peaceful coastal communities, you may spend hours watching dolphins and seabirds (though the people-watching might be sparse). Since the beachfront stretches for kilometers and connects to other communities, the beaches here are ideal for lengthy hikes. Are you not residing directly on the coast (or just spending the day visiting the area)? No issue. There are beach parking spaces, specifically on the Intracoastal side between 181st and 182nd avenues. Want to look cute or trendy on or off the beach? The mother-daughter-run Beachside Boutique in Redington Shores is a terrific place to find stylish new clothing. Or visit Sweet Sage Cafe & Boutique for coffee and a trip to the gift shop.

Food and Drinks

Gypsy Souls Cafe is a beautiful place that serves up brews from all over the world as well as mouthwatering pastries, so stop by if you’re a coffee connoisseur (or just someone who appreciates a nice cup of joe). Another longtime favorite in this area is Sweet Sage Cafe & Boutique, where you can discover a generous Benedict menu (with up to 12 varieties), as well as lunch options with a Mediterranean flair and an imaginative drink menu. Bring your closest friend and enjoy their “Pups on the Patio” experience since there is even a menu for dogs here.

Seabreeze Island Grill & Raw Bar is the place to go for lunch or dinner in a relaxed environment with wonderful views of the Intracoastal Waterway. As you would have guessed, oysters are the top item. However, they also serve tasty dishes like smoked fish dip, fried grouper nuggets, and flounder packed with crab. It’s a terrific place for happy hour, too. Visit Conch Republic for a taste of the Florida Keys and the Caribbean. Dishes there include Key West shrimp and grits, fried conch served with remoulade, and mussels diablo. Although there is a huge selection of drinks here, rum is unquestionably the star. Order the Bananas Foster to cap off your dinner in style; they put on a show for it here.

Places to Rest and Stay

Looking for a place to call home while on vacation? The beach here is lined with condominiums (rent through companies such as JC Resorts and Monterey on the Beach). There are also a few more intimate lodgings, like the beautiful Sand Vista Motel from the 1950s, where you can cast your line directly into Boca Ciega Bay. Stay at the DoubleTree Beach Resort by Hilton for a well-known brand with all the amenities.
