What are the 4 stages of child development?

FacebookTweetPinPrintLinkedIn

The four stages of childhood development were explained by Mr Jean Piaget in his theory namely Cognitive Development where he described the development process of human intelligence with the time interval.

His discovery reveals that Children’s minds are more creative and their intelligence is also beyond the calculation of the adult brain. Piaget observed that a child has different thinking power and speaking abilities compared to an adult.

He also added that children of every age type make different mistakes. So, he came to the conclusion that the learning ability of every age group is also very different.

Early childhood Centres are keeping these things in mind too while developing their teaching module.

Mini Miracles Childcare is one of the best Bruce early childhood centres, which are inspired by this theory of Piaget. There are 4 stages of childhood development. We will discuss these stages below.

What are the 4 stages of Cognitive Development?

The four stages are as follows –

  • Sensorimotor stage

This stage is started after birth and remains upto 2 years of age as a baby. Here an infant or toddler started experiencing the world around her slowly and gradually.

They react through sensory experiences and following objects with their eyes that seems interesting to her.

Here they learn some physical interactions such as sucking, stepping, grasping, drooling, rolling etc. They get introduced to language and understand them little by little.

Preschools or early childhood centres can help your toddler to explore and learn new things from this beginning stage.

Mini Miracles is one of such best Bruce early childhood centres that are completely trusted at this growth stage of a baby.

  • Preoperational stage

The age from 2 years to 7 years of a child is called the preoperational stage. At this stage, children started to learn different things through playful activities. Children are still confused in logical tests and need love and care as they come across different learning phases.

At this stage, the importance of early childhood education comes into the picture. Mini Miracles Childcare is one of the best Bruce early childhood centres, which are following and appreciating Jean Piaget’s theory of Cognitive Development.

  • The Concrete Operational Stage

The age from 7 to 11 years is referred to as The Concrete Operational Stage where your child will become more logical and start to manage things in an organized way.

It’s the time when they are going to attend primary schooling and they will practically experience everything they had learned in pre-school.

Whatever guidance that a Bruce early childhood Centre had given to your kid at the previous two stages, now it’s time to analyze the same.

As pre-schools are making the initial base of a child before they go to primary schooling, this is the phase where you are going to understand the importance of early childhood education.

  • The Formal Operational Stage

The age group of 12 years and up is the Formal Operational Stage where the child becomes completely logical and starts thinking of different solutions to a problem. They become more rational and start understanding the knowledge of abstract things.

They start understanding political, social and emotional points of view and also share their strong opinions. You can also refer to this stage when a child slowly and gradually starts becoming an adult.

Bruce’s early childhood Centres play an important role during the growth phase of a child before they start attending primary schooling. The initial days are the most crucial for a child’s mental, emotional and social growth and they need proper care, guidance and education at this point, without being judged or demotivated. Mini Miracles are one of the trusted early childhood education centres of Bruce, who can be completely trusted with this role.
